S+SA Architects Limited have been commissioned by Henson Healthcare Limited to design a new 66-bed general nursing care development for a spectacular ridgetop site in Brighouse, West Yorkshire.
Internal accommodation generously exceeds the usual market space standards to future-proof the design and provides the operator with a commercially advantageous offering.
Aesthetically the design echoes the industrial mill architecture synonymous with the area, with a simple L-shaped form arranged over three primary storeys.
An orthogonal form is added, housing the entrance/reception, vertical circulation, lounge/day space, catering, ancillary accommodation and activity spaces, with a crisp, smooth-faced elevational treatment punctuated with large glazed panels affording expansive views across the valley below.
In addition to maximizing levels of natural light to internal spaces and ensuring excellent views to all aspects, the design also includes extensive private roof gardens, adding further amenity for residents.
