THE J.B. PRIESTLEY LIBRARY, UNIVERSITY OF BRADFORD
Project: The design and delivery of a new Learning Resource Centre
Client: University of Bradford
Accommodation: 11 000m2 new build and 30 000m2 re-organization of existing accommodation
Status: Completed.
The project, located at the heart of the University of Bradford site, was secured through a competition which pitted S+SA Architects Limited against five other Yorkshire based practices. It comprised the building of a new 120 000 square feet Learning Resource Centre together with the rationalization of the existing Library and the construction of a new entrance/control centre to allow the whole complex to function efficiently as a single entity.
The new Learning Resource Centre is accommodated over five floors, arranged around a single central atrium. Heating and cooling is achieved through a combination of chilled ceilings and displacement ventilation.
