S+SA Architects were appointed to design bespoke new Clubhouse facilities for the West Hartlepool RUFC on their site at Catcote Lane Hartlepool, as a replacement for their existing temporary accommodation.
The brief required a design to accommodate 6 no. 18 person changing rooms with associated showering and wc facilities, a new gymnasium space, a function room with 200 person capacity, wc provision, kitchens, plant and beer cellar all to meet national criteria, including RFU guidelines.
S+SA Architects worked closely with the Club Committee to ensure the maximum utilisation of the funding streams available and, later, worked collaboratively with the stakeholder project team and the appointed main contractor to realise the optimum layout and scheme viability.
The scheme was completed in spring 2015 and, on Monday August 3rd 2015, will host the IRB and the Webb Ellis Trophy as part of the 100 day Trophy Tour of the UK and Ireland, marking the final countdown to this year’s showcase tournament – the IRB International Rugby Union World Cup.
