S+SA Architects Limited have been commissioned by the Nottingham Building Society to assist with plans for the expansion of their Head Office in central Nottingham.

The acquisition of an adjoining office block provides additional space to accommodate the expansion of the Nottingham’s operations, plus a degree of future-proofing, ensuring Nottingham remains their organizational base.

The design solution had to reconcile the differential floor levels between the new and existing office accommodation, effectively unifying what had previously been two separate buildings.

Various options were explored and ultimately a very simple solution, to create a new intervention outside the existing envelope, was chosen.
