Project: Bridgehouse Care Home, Brighouse West Yorkshire
Client: The Fisher Care Group
Status: Completed
The Commission
S+SA were appointed for the provision of architectural services in relation to the design and delivery of a new build 66-bed general care development on a challenging wooded site perched on the side of a valley. The site had a relatively small developable area, but benefitted from an existing planning consent for a 60-bed care development.
Our Input
Using our in-house Building Information Modelling (BIM) capability, we performed an appraisal of the consented scheme proposals to ascertain whether they met the client’s requirements – with the ultimate conclusion that a new design was required.
Our Value
S+SA were able to secure planning consent for an entirely new 66-bed care development for the client, gaining additional accommodation within the same parameters of the previous scheme, all treated as a variation to the original consent – providing the client with accommodation which met their requirements without the additional time and expense required to negotiate the planning process anew.
Disability Action Yorkshire have a long relationship with SSA-Architects which began with the design of our residential home for younger adults with physical disabilities when they impressed us with their commitment to ensuring that the design aided full accessibility and independence. They have remained firm supporters of and amongst other events run an annual bike ride raising much needed funds to support our work. They show a genuine interest in our work and in the ongoing needs and aspirations of disabled people. We consider SSA-Architects to be true and valued friends of the charity.
