NEWCASTLE

Project Overview

Project: NHS Walk-In Health Centre
Client: Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Size: 65,000 sq ft
Status: Technical Design

As part of an exciting new venture between the NHS and Newcastle University, a new research campus is to be developed on the site of the old Newcastle General Hospital.

A key part of this campus, the Brighton Grove Centre, is to be developed as a base for the majority of community health services in the locality.

The new centre will provide over 65,000 sq ft of mixed accommodation and features a ground floor ‘Health Mall’ off which the many health services will be provided.

Additionally an NHS walk-in centre is planned along with a food and nutrition centre, a diabetic centre and community paediatrics, to name just a few.

At the CIOB Committed to Excellence in Construction in West Yorkshire Awards 2013, S+SA won the “Committed to Collaborative Working” prize for work on this project.
