OLIVERS HEIGHTS, EDGE HILL,
SCARBOROUGH

Project Overview

Project: The design and delivery of private housing – 20 Apartments and 66 dwellings
Client: Guild Homes Limited
Status: On site

The commission concerns the provision of architectural services in relation to the delivery of 86 new build residential dwellings for a site in the Edge Hill area on the southern edge of Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

This particular site had previously been the third and final phase of a larger residential development which, for reasons related to the economic downturn, was yet to be completed and had been purchased by a developer who wished to appoint S+SA Architects Limited for the provision of architectural services through to the completion of the scheme (we were also the appointed architects for the original project).

Further enhancements to the consented scheme were made, in liaison with the Local Authority planning department, to meet the client’s aspirations for the site to deliver high quality residential accommodation.  Value was added to the elevational treatments, materials and internal layouts and two additional units were added to the site layout.

The site topography is extremely challenging with significant level changes requiring a collaborative approach from the design team, led by S+SA Architects Limited, and the main contractor to develop an achievable and commercially viable design solution.
