Project Overview

Project: Technical Design and Delivery of New Food Retail Store
Client: Tesco
Size: 3,750m2
Status: Completed

This challenging and unique store development in the picturesque seaside town of Sheringham was delivered as part of a small mixed use scheme. The project has achieved international acclaim; the use of Revit technology to deliver the design culminated in the project achieving the 2013 Global BIM Award.

Every facet of the design was carefully considered in detail consultation with North Norfolk CC. The complex timber frame with interlocking roof valleys and exposed internal structure was manufactured in Switzerland and is widely featured in trade press. The zinc roof covering with PV array and enclosed plant well gives a distinctive roof form which can be seen from local viewpoints.

The building facades were specifically designed for their orientation and interface with the town centre link and adjacent railway station. The residential properties along Cromer Road incorporated various materials such as shuffle and planar glazing, local flint faced precast concrete panels, high performance cladding and traditional brickwork.

The project is a finalist in the 2015 Graham Allen Award for architecture.
