Call:

THE J.B. PRIESTLEY LIBRARY,
UNIVERSITY OF BRADFORD

Project Overview

Project: The design and delivery of a new Learning Resource Centre
Client: University of Bradford
Size: 11,000m2 new build and 30,000m2 re-organisation of existing accommodation
Status: Completed.

The project, located at the heart of the University of Bradford site, was secured through a competition which pitted S+SA Architects Limited against five other Yorkshire based practices. It comprised the building of a new 120,000 square foot Learning Resource Centre together with the rationalisation of the existing Library and the construction of a new entrance/control centre to allow the whole complex to function efficiently as a single entity.

The new Learning Resource Centre is accommodated over five floors, arranged around a single central atrium.  Heating and cooling is achieved through a combination of chilled ceilings and displacement ventilation.
