WEST PARK RUGBY CLUB,
Leeds

Project Overview

Project: Design and implementation of a new purpose built rugby academy
Client: West Park Rugby Club
Size: 21,000 sq ft
Status: Completed

SSA provided a new clubhouse for West Park Leeds RUFC at their ground on the outskirts of Leeds.

The new building, which was constructed whilst maintaining all existing clubhouse facilities, used thermal mass and heat exchanger technology to reduce running costs. Sited to minimise the impact on green belt and neighbouring properties, the building had a large balcony at first floor level affording good views for spectators over the 1st XV pitch.

The success of the facility has seen the England squad choose the club as the destination for one of their training camps.

Disability Action Yorkshire have a long relationship with SSA-Architects which began with the design of our residential home for younger adults with physical disabilities when they impressed us with their commitment to ensuring that the design aided full accessibility and independence.  They have remained firm supporters of and amongst other events run an annual bike ride raising much needed funds to support our work.  They show a genuine interest in our work and in the ongoing needs and aspirations of disabled people.  We consider SSA-Architects to be true and valued friends of the charity.
